Rann Utsav is a virtual riot of colors. The heady mix of arts and crafts, folk music and dance, and the kaleidoscopic landscape makes it an unforgettable experience.

This year, Couture Mahamaya made its presence felt to showcase  the unique hand embroidered creations (garments of our artisans).

Graced by the Hon  Chief Minister of Gujarat. Ms Anandibehen Patel, as well as by many important dignitaries , our enterprise and initiative received appreciation and applause across the canvas.

THE THIRD EYE- FUSION IN FASHION

The hand embroidery of  Gujarat is extremely varied, rich and versatile and has the potential to create magic, a riot of colours  on a global scale. Leveraging their skills, we Couture Mahamaya brainchild of Kuheli RayBhattacharya support more than 50 artisans from the villages of Padhdhar, Bhachau,Anjar, Lakhpat, Dhaneti, Dhori, Jikadi,Bhujod,Kutch, Gujarat by providing them continuous remunerative employment, besides remunerative employment, besides

 

 

 

 

 

  • Training them to understand the emerging trends,
  • Preserve and improve their skills,
  • Exposing them to exhibitions
  • And over a longer horizon, support them to pursue literacy, vocational training, facilitate their independence and fight against social injustice and exploitation
  • A range of unique, hand embroidered saris (takes 4-12 months to take shape ), Dhotis, Kurtas, Kurtis, Skirts, Stoles, Gowns will be launched.

Additionally, she is also involved in an initiative which provided academic support to close to 250 underprivileged children in Padhdhar Village, Bhuj, Kutch (WHITE DESERT MAHAMAYA,).

The Third Eye- Fusion in Fashion their debut  exhibition will be held at the Jamini Roy Art Gallery( ICCR, 3rd Floor) between 9 September-11 September,2016 (3PM-8PM). All proceeds of sale from the exhibition will help fulfill our  immediate plans and challenges , which include

  • Reaching out to rural Bengal and work on fusion of skills / designs like Baluchuri+ Kantha stitch in conjunction with Kutchhi designs –thus creating unique and exclusive offerings besides generating employment opportunities
  • Consolidating and expanding the existing artisan base
